I would not recommend Mears Point to anyone. Mike has royally screwed me and my family. He has treated me like I am an idiot and laughed in my face, after I was asking when my check would come in. After charging me over 4k to fix minor things on my boat and telling me and my father in law that 2k would come out of the deposit from the buyers, he also charged 1k over the agreed commission and my check was over 2k under what I had agreed to. When my father in law called about the 2k discrepancy, Mike told him " if you aren't happy, than come pick the boat up, I don't care" I am disgusted that I had to deal with this man and this company. I will make sure to let everyone and anyone know of how unprofessional and unfair Mike and Mears Point is.
I WILL NEVER USE MEARS POINT YACHT SALES AGAIN.

We have just completed the sale of our boat with Mike. NEVER AGAIN! Mike treated both us and the Buyers in the most unprofessional manner. Screaming phone calls and threats to call the deal off and keep the Buyers deposit. Fortunately my husband met the Buyer at survey. They got along well and exchanged phone numbers. Three days before closing we got a phone call from the Buyer, stating that he could no longer deal with Mike and was about to walk away from the deal. We were able to talk things through and work it out without Mike's involvement.Surely if the deal had fallen through Mike would have blamed each party to the other. We met with the Buyers prior to closing and spent some time going over the boat with them...nicest people. I know what Mike told us about the Buyers and can only imagine what he told the Buyers about us...hoping that we would never speak and compare notes.
Mike had us sign blank power of attorney forms and bill of sale. I asked that he fill in the vessel name and documentation number on the forms. He refused and told me that is not the way he does business. When we stated that we would be attending closing and would sign the forms in person, he refused, again stating that is not the way he does business. Why so secretive and defensive? Hmmmm.Watch out for his temper!

Absolutely horrible. Mike Sweeney is worse than any used car dealer. I wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy. Don't waste your time....STAY FAR AWAY.
There are thousands of boats out there. Don't let Mike the "COACH" rip you off!!
I agree! He is the worst I have ever seen. I would never buy or sell a boat thru Mike. I hope he kisses everyone after his deal is done, because I’m sure he just just screwed you, buyers and sellers alike.
We sold a boat through Mike Sweeney in Sept.2010.. would NEVER have him represent us again.. He is the lowest of the low.. stay clear of listing with him. What should have been a happy time for us turned into a nightmare.Thank God it is over and we never have to do business with him again.
Can you elaborate on the problems you experienced. I am currently trying to buy a boat through him.
